Crisis Accommodation Services
The Women’s Safety Services of Central Australia is a safe place for women and children. Women and children have a right to feel safe and be free from violence and abuse.
We provide support services for all women and children in Central Australia who have experienced or at risk of experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence. This includes trans women, non-binary people and women in same sex relationships. Our service aims to be respectful and inclusive space for all.
Our Alice Springs Crisis Accommodation Service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The WoSSCA Crisis Accommodation Service provides support and immediate shelter for women and their children experiencing domestic family and sexual violence. Our Crisis Accommodation Services is a safe space that gives women and children an opportunity to rest, talk and plan for safety. We have spaces for children to play, spaces to do art work and opportunities to talk and learn with other women and organisations. WoSSCA is a confidential service and Case Workers at WoSSCA can explain to women their mandatory reporting responsibilities to you in the Northern Territory.
If women are feeling unsafe and need to talk to someone outside of the hours of our Outreach services, please contact our Case Workers at the Crisis Accommodation Services.
How we work:
Risk Assessment
Risk Assessment is how we figure out what is happening for someone and our response. We know that it can be hard to talk about domestic, family and sexual violence so our priority is providing a comfortable and safe space where women feel comfortable and supported to share their stories.
Safety Planning
Our Case Workers work alongside women to make a plan for their safety. A safety plan can be easy to use, is based on what is happening for women and what women are already doing to keep themselves and their family safe. The staff at WoSSCA can talk with women about their safety plan.
Collaboration and Referrals to Other Services
Our Case Workers, work with women to explore if there are other services they would like to know more about or get support from. We can refer women to a range of counselling, legal and other support services. Our Case Workers also work collaboratively with the range of other services in Alice Springs.
Emergency Relief
WoSSCA may support with financial or material relief for women in crisis. We understand that there are many things that families are carrying with them, and that financial relief can assist with this load.
